
Squire Hardy
AMBOY – Squire “John” Hardy, 64, of Amboy, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at his sister’s home in Amboy. He was employed by Byron Nuclear Station for 18 years before retiring. Squire was born Oct. 31, 1945, in Amboy, the son of Lester and Evalyn (Killian) Hardy. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Squire was a member of the IBEW, Pheasants Forever, and Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his children, Josephine (Scott) Vivian of Amboy, Kirsten (Shawn) Pjesky of Sugar Grove, Caleb (Christina) Hardy of Byron, and Tyler Hardy of Chicago; three sisters, Carol A. (Richard) Johnson of Burlington, Wis., Nettie A. (George) Poulos of Amboy, and Sharon L. (Delbert) Yocum of Franklin Grove; and four grandchildren, Samantha, Mackenzie, Courtney, and Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dale Hardy, Charles William Hardy, and Neil Hardy; and one sister, Rita Coleman. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, with the Rev. Frank Brozenec officiating. Burial, with military graveside honors by the Amboy American Legion, will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon. A potluck reception will follow from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Amboy Community Building.
