(AP) — Authorities in the northern Chicago suburb of Northbrook say a freight train has derailed and struck a second, standing train. Fire officials say 17 cars derailed on Sunday afternoon. A spokesman for Union Pacific Railroad says the tracks belong to Union Pacific. A spokesman for Canadian Pacific Railway confirms the freight train belongs to that company. Officials say they have evacuated a strip mall as a precaution. Northbrook officials say none of the three people aboard the freight train had major injuries. Officials with Metra say there will be no impact on commuter service. Comments
