Ken Novak’s up for a third time at bat.

Novak, owner of C&N Supply in Dixon, is again running against 90th District state Rep. Jerry Mitchell, R-Sterling, who has held the office since 1995.

Novak, an Amboy Democrat, lost to Mitchell in 2006 and 2008.

“I realize that incumbents win 98 percent of all elections, but I feel it’s my way of participating in the democratic process and I enjoy meeting and learning from the people of the 90th District,” Novak said.

In the last election, Novak pushed for a $5,000 tax credit for any small business that creates a job. It’s something he still stands by.

“Small businesses need state support, and this is a good way to develop much-needed jobs,” Novak said.

He said he would run a district office with 25 percent less money. “If we’re going to ask our constituents to make cuts, we have to clean up our own house first.”
