
Danny KraftCANON CITY, Colo. – Danny Lawrence Kraft, 63, of the Canon City, Colo., area, formerly of Galt and Sterling, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, in Canon City, Colo. Danny was born Jan. 5, 1946, in Galt, the son of Arthur and Gladys (Donner) Kraft. He attended Galt Grade School and Sterling High School, graduating in the class of 1964. He participated on the football and wrestling teams, and in his senior year, placed second in the state wrestling tournament in the heavyweight division. He went on to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, receiving his bachelor’s degree from the school of education in 1969. While at Northwestern, he was on the wrestling team as a 3-year starter, and placed in the Big Ten tournament. He began his teaching–coaching career in Michigan and then moved to Largo, Fla., where he taught and coached for many years. He retired and settled in the Canon City, Colo., area. Survivors include three sisters, Lois Yon, Marilyn Handel, and Diana Simmons; and one brother, Ken Kraft. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Arthur Kraft Jr. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 21, at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb, 158 N. Fourth St., DeKalb. Arrangements were completed by Sangre De Cristo Crematory, Canon City, Colo. Comments
