A great night for St. Mary’s SchoolBy Kris Noble, Deer GroveOn Oct. 17, St. Mary’s School, Sterling, had its annual auction with the theme “Tailgating Fun.” It was a great evening of food, fun and fellowship as people came together to support St. Mary’s School and raise funds for the overall operation of the school and to provide financial scholarships to families. There are so many people, businesses and organizations that helped to make the auction such a success. It is difficult to express how much we – the auction chairs – truly appreciate all the help we received. Our thanks to our auction corporate sponsors: CGH Medical Center, New Millennium Directories, Stanley-National, Sterling-Rock Falls Clinic, and Freedom Bank. Also, thanks to Selmi’s for the incredible fall centerpieces and decorations, Lori Scroggins for centerpieces, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Aramark-Chris Schoaf, La Familia, Lee Wayne, McDonald’s, Arthur’s, Amber Allen, Paul Sandefer, Robbin Clifton, Bev Franque, Tim Nelson, Deb Moore, and Angie and Chris Adams for the donation of supplies, time and talents that helped to make the evening a success. Also, we thank Kurt Overcash for donating his services as the auctioneer. We know this event is possible only due to the donations and services given by businesses and professionals, and we thank you for your generosity. St. Mary’s School is really a family, and this is truly evident when it comes to planning an event such as this auction. On behalf of Denise and Michelle, I want to thank all of the parents at St. Mary’s School who participated on the auction committee. Whether you worked to gather acquisitions, organized the drink auction, organized a class basket, donated a dessert, decorated and set up the Parish Center, worked on publicity, put together the program, worked in the kitchen, or helped clean up, your help was greatly appreciated. Finally, thanks to Mrs. Schmitt, the office staff, and the teachers at St. Mary’s for your assistance, patience and cooperation. Note to readers – Kris Noble was one of three chairwomen for the auction. Comments
