Taxes on homes too high; no one will listen

I read about Dixon Township being able to have a choice between using the new tax system and doing it the old way. This is not very fair to the rest of the county.

The only way to make this work is to have everyone on it – no matter how long it takes to input the information. Too much money has been spent on this to have choices. I truly feel it works but needs new input.

It is figuring the appraisal cost that is out of line for this area. We can’t get those prices for our homes out here, and I can prove that by looking how cheap homes are on the market and still not moving.

There has to be a way to make adjustments to the system for this area. No way should a standard lot and ranch home cost $7,000 in taxes. We have also had a downturn in housing, and I did not see my taxes drop last year.

If taxes are going to be at this rate, I couldn’t sell my home anyway. No one in their right mind would pay this amount. My taxes jumped more than $2,000 in 2 years. This is unreal, and I couldn’t get anyone to listen when I tried to get them to look at it.

If this is going to be the tax rate, then it’s time to make some cuts in our spending at the town and county level. I would be interested if anyone else has thoughts on this. Thanks again for your time.
