Speed bumps boost safety at intersection

By John A. Sutton, Harmon

This is addressed to the Lee County Highway Department and its bosses. It has taken me a while to try to get through all the red tape, but here goes.

Back in June of this year, there were two traffic crashes at U.S. Route 30 and Harmon Road. A lady lost her husband on a motorcycle. By the end of the week, there was another crash at the same intersection, and I don’t know the outcome of that one.

I’ve lived in the Harmon area off and on since 1969. I’ve seen quite a few crashes at that intersection and have cleaned up a few of them.

You, gentlemen – I thank you. Thank you for the speed bumps as drivers approach the stop signs north and south on Harmon Road. It shows that someone cares.
