Homb, Eccles lead Dukes: Golden Warriors go three games to top Ottawa

Mitch Homb and Ryan Eccles shared medalist honors with 4-over-par 40s to lead the Dixon boys golf team to a 166-185 win over Ottawa on Monday at Timber Creek Golf Course.
Zach Francque (42) and Caleb Bradley (44) rounded out the scoring for the Dukes.
Prophetstown 170, Mid-County 171, Newman 183: Jarod Smith carded a 3-over-par 39 to lead the Prophets to a home win.
Zach Henkel was low for Newman with 42. The medalist was Mid-County’s Tauge Rux with 38.
Bureau Valley 195, Annawan-Wethersfield 198: Jordan Twidell was medalist with an 8-over-par 44 to lead the Storm at the Dunes in Kewanee.
Girls golf
Prophetstown 219, Princeton 232: Annie Sandrock had a 51 and Jasmine Anderson a 53 to lead the Prophets over the Tigresses at Hunter’s Ridge in Princeton.
The medalist was Princeton’s Jessica Headley with 50.
Volleyball
Sterling 2, Ottawa 1: Brittney Schreiner had 15 digs and 10 kills to lead the Golden Warriors to a 25-18, 20-25, 25-19 road win over the Pirates.
Also for Sterling (8-8, 3-2 NCIC Reagan), Carly Willman had 16 digs, Nicole Renner had 15 assists, Krista Loos had seven kills and Lauren Hernandez added five aces.
Oregon 2, Rockford Lutheran 0: Niatha Cullen had nine kills and four solo blocks to lead the Hawks past the Crusaders 25-19, 25-18 at the Blackhawk Center.
Also for Oregon (11-8, 2-2 Big Northern), Mariah Long had eight digs and Erin Clapper added seven digs.
Pecatonica 2, Polo 0: Julie Haye had five kills and Katelyn Grobe and Kristi Naylon added four each for the Marcos in their 26-24, 27-25 NUIC East loss at Pecatonica.
Also for Polo (2-10-1), Kelsey LeFevre had six assists and Naylon had three aces.
Bureau Valley 2, Hall 0: Aubrey Franklin had seven kills, Lauren Hasbrook had four and Meghan Mussche added five digs for the Storm (7-6) in their 25-19, 25-23 nonconference victory at Spring Valley.
Eastland 2, Warren 0: Hope Linker had 18 assists and Courtney Blair had six blocks to lead the Cougars to a 25-8, 25-7 NUIC West win at Warren.
Also for Eastland, Katelyn Hasken had six kills and Megan Bunyer added four.
West Carroll 2, Scales Mound 1: Kelsey Bull finished with 11 kills and Rebecca Fritz added 10 kills and seven aces as the Thunder gained a 25-20, 22-25, 25-20 NUIC West road win.
Faith Christian 2, Newman JV 0: Parker Ortgiesen had eight points, four assists and one ace to lead the Falcons to a 25-17, 25-22 win in Grand Detour.
Also for Faith Christian (9-6), Jessica Bonnell had four digs, four kills and three blocks.
Girls tennis
Dixon 7, DeKalb 0: Mandy Kent and Jenny Guenther each blanked their opponents as the Duchesses beat the Barbs in DeKalb.
Thea Baldwin won in singles, while Holly Faivre and Kayla Wilson, Marcella Flowers and Mabel Seto, Nora Bratt and Courtney Tressel and Spencer Smith and Alyssa Diehl won in doubles.
Sterling 9, Morris 0: Paige Goshert and Allyson Ansusinha blanked their singles and doubles opponents to lead the Golden Warriors to a shutout of the visiting Redskins.
Victoria Packer and the doubles team of Jennifer Vasquez and Mona Weitz also scored 6-0, 6-0 wins over their opponents.
Bari Reynolds, Mariah Bardo and Packer won in singles, as did the doubles team of Bardo and Packer.
Boys soccer
Oregon 1, Winnebago 0: Matt Ajvazi scored an unassisted goal in overtime for the Hawks in a road win over the Indians.
Women’s tennis
Waubonsee 9, Sauk Valley 0: Tess Ginn dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision to Ashley Nixon at No. 5 singles, the closest the Skyhawks came to putting a point on the board in Sugar Grove.
