Know Your Neighbors: Ben Lemere, 
Student

Ben Lemere, 19, of Amboy, is studying criminal justice at Sauk Valley Community College. He is the son of Dorothy Jones of Amboy, and has a brother, Nick Jones, 22, of Dixon.

Alma mater: I graduated in 2008 from Amboy High School.

Philosophy: Life is like the game Jenga. Pull a piece away and you never know what will happen.

Hearts: Playing sports, like pickup basketball, and the TV show “Sons of Anarchy.”

Darts: Sitting around doing nothing.

Haunts: Visiting colleges. I’m planning to transfer to Western Illinois University.

Hero: My brother. He just got back from Afghanistan. He’s in the Army National Guard out of Freeport.

First job: I was a lifeguard at Woodhaven Lakes when I was 15. I liked it.

First car: A 1985 Chevrolet Silverado. I was 15.

Phobia: Clowns.

Guilty pleasure: Sleeping in.

I’d like to meet: Santonio Holmes, a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Trading places: I’d like to be a professional athlete, to see what it’s like.

Trading spaces: I’d like to visit Europe.

Best thing about Amboy: You know everyone and it’s a small town.
