Dukes edged out in opener

Mitch Homb fired an even-par 36 to lead the Dixon golf team in a 154-157 loss to Streator on Tuesday at Streator Country Club.
Homb shared medalist honors with a pair of Bulldogs, Austin Gass and Josh Gass.
Rounding out the Dukes’ lineup were Caleb Bradley with 38, Kyle Henley with 41, Austin Dillon and Ryan Eccles with 42s and Zach Francque with 43.
Prophetstown 182, Mid-County 193: Brandon Roman’s 8-over-par 44 tied for medalist honors and helped the Prophets to a win over the Wildcats at Dunes Country Club.
Jarod Smith, Kory Sommers and Nathan Tornow each had 46s for Prophetstown. Mid-County’s Tauge Rux tied Roman with a 44.
Riverdale 171, Fulton 174, Erie 184: The Steamers’ Kyle Workman earned medalist honors with a 3-over-par 38 in a triangular match won by the Rams at Byron Hills Golf Course.
Jordan Jaquet led Erie with a 43. Kelby Kindelsperger had a 40 for Riverdale.
Sandwich Invitational: Oregon finished 17th in the 19-team Sandwich Invitational held at Edgebrook Country Club.
The Hawks finished with a score of 405 and were led by Brian Ostrander with a 99. Sandwich won the team title at 324 and had the medalist in Lucas Burkett with a 1-over-par 73.
Girls golf
Geneseo 226, Rock Falls 336: Allie DeVries paced the Rockets with a 58 in a match against the Maple Leafs at Rock River Country Club.
Geneseo’s Allison Farrell was medalist with a 50.
At Deer Valley: Jasmine Anderson paced a balanced Prophetstown lineup with a 54 in a non-scoring match against Galva. Also for the Prophets, Lindsey Inskeep and Molly Corbin each had 56s and Annie Sandrock added a 57.
Galva, which only had three players, was led by Jordan Nelson with a 57.
