Sterling rained out; will play today
Sterling’s Senior League baseball team will stay one more day at the Central Regional in Columbia, Mo.
Sterling’s final game of pool play against Albany, Mo., was postponed due to rain on Monday.
The game will be played at 2 p.m. today. It can be heard on WSDR-AM (1240). Both Sterling and Albany are 0-3 heading into the game, meaning neither team will advance to Wednesday’s semifinals.

Sox GM gets jaywalking ticket
SEATTLE – Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams was ticketed Monday for jaywalking by the Seattle Police Department.
Williams was cited outside Safeco Field for illegally crossing a street away from a crosswalk. The GM was on his cell phone after exiting a cab and was on his way into the stadium hours before his team’s game against the Mariners when a traffic-control officer nabbed him and wrote a $56 ticket.

Lawyers downplay Kane accusations
BUFFALO – Conflicting portrayals of Patrick Kane’s altercation with a Buffalo taxi driver emerged Monday as attorneys on both sides sought to downplay the allegations against the Blackhawks’ star winger.
Paul Cambria, a lawyer who has defended several Buffalo Bills football players in court, said he met with Kane on Monday and interviewed witnesses to the incident in which the taxi driver alleged he was beaten and robbed by Kane and his cousin over 20 cents in change for a fare.
Speaking to WGN-AM 720 on Monday, Andrew LoTempio, the cab driver’s attorney, said the episode Sunday morning in the hockey player’s hometown was “blown out of proportion” and should not be considered a felony. He called it a “regular kid incident.”
Kane, 20, and a cousin, James Kane, 21, are accused of punching cab driver Jan Radecki in the face and head following a dispute over payment around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Woods to be fined for comments
CHASKA, Minn. – Tiger Woods will be fined by the PGA Tour for his public criticism of a rules official after winning the Bridgestone Invitational, a tour official said Monday.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the tour does not publicize fines.
Woods was bothered after his four-shot victory Sunday because he and Padraig Harrington were put on the clock at the par-5 16th. He said that caused Harrington to rush three difficult shots, leading to triple bogey.
European Tour chief referee John Paramor told Woods and Harrington they were being timed.
Woods said he told Harrington after it was over, “I’m sorry that John got in the way of a great battle.”
