Factory fire sends workers outdoors
DIXON – Employees evacuated a smoke-filled Raynor Garage Door plant on Thursday after a machine caught fire.
No one was hurt, Dixon Fire Capt. Mark Callison said, and there was no damage to the building at 1101 E. River Road.
The fire started with a mechanical failure on a machine used to install insulation in garage doors, Callison said. It wasn’t big enough to set off Raynor’s alarm, and by the time employees made the call and firefighters responded at around 1:30 p.m., only light smoke remained.
“There was really nothing we could do,” Callison said. “We just helped ventilate the building.”
Dixon Rural Fire Department assisted, and the scene was cleared before 2 p.m.
