Lauren Matthews

PROPHETSTOWN – Lauren Matthews, 90, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the center. He farmed in the Prophetstown area and sold feeder cattle for Prophetstown and Geneseo Cattle Co.

Mr. Matthews was born Dec. 15, 1918, the son of Henry and Julia (Lanphere) Matthews. He married Mabel Frary. He later married Alda Bollman.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Virginia Matthews of Sandwich; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Laurie Matthews; a son, Larry Matthews; a sister, Mary Ellen Pritchard; and two nephews.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown, with the Rev. Greg Olson, pastor, officiating. Burial is at Leon Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements were completed by Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown.

A  memorial has been established to Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown.
