STERLING – A wrong turn led two New York men to the Whiteside County jail Tuesday after police discovered a crop of marijuana plants and other drugs in their vehicle.

About 1:30 p.m., Sterling Police stopped a Ford Explorer driven by Christopher R. Leong, 22, of Farmington, N.Y., in the 400 block of Locust Street for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Officers called in the department’s canine officer, which indicated there might be drugs inside the vehicle. Inside, police found about 8 grams of processed cannabis, six cannabis plants and less than 15 grams of Cocerta, a drug used to treat attention deficit disorder.

Leong was charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

A passenger in the vehicle, Justin A. Wojtarowicz, 19, of Canadaigua, N.Y., is charged with possession of cannabis plants, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
