George DePuy

STERLING – George J. DePuy, 71, of Sterling, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at his home.

He was born April 17, 1938, in Sterling, the son of George W. and Edith (Forehand) DePuy, and was a 1956 graduate of Rock Falls High School. He married JoAnn Knapp on July 20, 1957, in Rock Falls. He was employed as an electrician at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, for 30 years before retiring. George was an avid flea marketer and collector of antiques.

Surviving are his wife, JoAnn; three sons, Barry (Jeanne) DePuy of Rock Falls, William (Kathleen) DePuy of Keshena, Wis., and George E. DePuy of Sterling; his daughter, Brenda (Dr. Jay) Schwartz of Scottsdale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Monique (Jason) Weidman, Jessica DePuy, Teresa DePuy, Jacob DePuy, Zackery DePuy, Angelique DePuy, Maddy Schwartz, and Maxxy Schwartz; and two great-grandchildren, William Weidman and Jayden Weidman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister.

Private family graveside service will be Saturday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Homes.
