OREGON – A fugitive wanted on Ogle County drug charges was arrested Monday night in Jones County, N.C., Ogle County Sheriff Greg Beitel said.

Edmon Kirksy Jr., 60, of Rochelle, was one of 15 people indicted June 4 on felony drug charges. Thirteen were arrested later that day, but Kirksy and Shalamar F. Sopys, 61, Rochelle, could not be located.

Kirksy is  charged with delivery of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church, a Class X felony, and delivery of crack cocaine, a Class 1 felony.

His bond was set at $50,000.

Beitel said Tuesday that Sopys remains at large. Sopys is charged with delivery of cocaine, less than one gram, within 1,000 feet of a church, a Class 1 felony, and delivery of cocaine, less than one gram, a Class 2 felony.
His bond was set at $150,000.

Beitel said Kirksy will appear in Jones County Court for an extradition hearing sometime this week.

“When he is returned to Ogle County will depend on whether or not he waives extradition,” Beitel said.
