Prophetstown to mark 150 years

PROPHETSTOWN – Area families can have a little “kid-friendly” fun Friday through Sunday at Kids Days in downtown Prophetstown.

The event is the third activity in celebration of the town’s 150th birthday.

The event kicks off at 1 p.m. Friday with a free sidewalk chalk activity at the Subway parking lot, 323 Washington St.

The activities continue Saturday with free kids races and games at Eclipse Park and a kids parade along Washington Street at 1 p.m.

A dunk tank, beard-growing contest and kids and adults tractor pull also will be offered, along with live entertainment.

A carnival will be held, beginning at 1 p.m. Friday through Sunday on Washington Street. Carnival ride tickets are $1.25 each.

On Saturday, the first 250 children ages 10 or younger who come to the carnival will receive two free ride tickets.

From 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, wristbands for unlimited carnival rides will be sold for $12.

Friday

Washington Street

n 1 p.m.: Sidewalk chalk event beginning at the Subway parking lot, 323 Washington St.

n 1 p.m.: Carnival opens. Carnival ride tickets are $1.25.

n 7 to 10 p.m.: Free concert by the Johnny Kaye Orchestra. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Saturday

Eclipse Square Park

n 10 a.m.: Free kids races and games at Eclipse Square Park.

Washington Street

n 1 p.m.: Carnival opens. The first 250 children ages 10 and younger will receive 2 free ride tickets.

n 1 p.m.: Kids parade.

n 3 p.m.: Beard-growing contest.

n 7 to 11 p.m.: The country/rock band Cuz Band will give a free performance.

n 4 p.m.: Free kids and adults peddle tractor pull.

Sunday

n 1 to 4 p.m.: Wristband day at the carnival for $12.
