Municipal Band season 
starts tonight

DIXON – Dixon Municipal Band starts its new concert season at 7:30 tonight in the Page Park Band Shell.

Concert selections will include “Concert Booster’s March” by Leonard Smith, “Light Cavalry Overture” by Suppe/Fillmore, “Let the Spirit Soar” by James Swearingen, “Selections from ‘Mary Poppins,’” arranged by Alfred Reed, “March Glorious” by Eric Osterling, “Castle Rock Overture” by Thomas Root, “Selections from ‘The Fantasticks,’” arranged by Alfred Reed, “Laredo” by Clifton Williams, “Blue Moon,” by Rodgers/Hart, and “The Volunteers,” by John Philip Sousa.

The concert season is as follows, with all concerts at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted:

June 11: “Folk Songs from around the World,” featuring Western Illinois University student conductor Jessica Todd of Mount Carroll

June 18: Guest conductor Emily Bressler, director of bands at West Carroll High School, Savanna

June 25: at Page Park

July 3: 7 p.m. patriotic concert at Lee County Courthouse lawn

July 9: Guest conductor Ruth Johnson, band director at Reagan Middle School, Dixon, and Sara Bramm of Rock Falls, student conductor at Northern Illinois University

July 16: “A Night of Scary Music”

July 23: Guest conductor Lisa Eaton, music teacher at Eastland Middle School, Shannon

July 30: Novelty Night

Aug. 6: Finale
