Let’s hear more on Winnebago choice

By Ray Tkach
, Sterling

Dacia Dennis had several excellent points in her May 29 letter to the editor titled “Choosing out-of-town agency sends wrong message.” It would be very informative to receive a reply from the Whiteside County Board on their criteria for choosing a Winnebago County agent instead of a local individual.

I agree. My wife and I try to purchase locally and will pay a premium to do so. Is the Winnebago advantage that significant? If we follow the leadership of our Whiteside County Board and purchase outside of Whiteside County, will that help to lower my property taxes?

Note to readers – Ray Tkach has been a Whiteside County resident for 24 years.
