Poker tourney to benefit Bravo

AMBOY – Card sharks and local patriots can join hands Saturday at a Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament, with proceeds going toward a welcome-home party planned for the National Guard’s Bravo Troop 2/106th Cavalry.

Saturday’s tournament will include raffle prizes such as a toaster oven, a bedspread set and possibly a big-screen television. Free food will be provided courtesy of Roadhouse Pizzaria & Pub in Sublette and Amboy’s Subway.

Registration for the tournament starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the Amboy Community Building at 280 W. Wasson Road.

The space was rented with money from the Breeze Foundation, dedicated to the memory of Clay Taylor, an Amboy resident who died in a car collision 2 years ago.

Although no return date has been set, Bravo Troop supporters plan to host a banquet as soon as the last member of the unit returns. Troop members are serving in Afghanistan.

Anyone who would like to learn more details about the tournament, including possible buy-in rates, should contact Amboy Police Commissioner and retired Army 1st Sgt. Robert Enlow, whose 19-year-old son, Derrick, is deployed with Bravo Troop. Enlow can be reached at 815-973-8213.
