Biker killed on bridge

SAVANNA – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday on the Savanna/Sabula bridge after he was struck by a car.

Slobodan Dejanovic, 46, of Hanover, was thrown from his motorcycle as a result of the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Carroll County Coroner Matt Jones.

The crash happened about 6:20 p.m. on the U.S. Route 52/state Route 64 bridge over the Mississippi River.

Dejanovic was eastbound when his bike was hit by a car driven by Dennis Longnecker, 60, of Mount Carroll, who also was eastbound, police said..

Dejanovic lost control of his bike, which struck the north guardrail and bridge girders before coming to rest on the road.

Longnecker and his passengers were uninjured.

No citations were issued.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
