MORRISON - City garbage rates are going up $6 a year. The City Council gave its preliminary approval Monday; final approval is expected at the Jan. 26 meeting Residents now pay $8.68 from December to March, and $10.78 from April to November, a total of $121 a year. The new rate comes to $127 a year. An increase in operating costs and tipping fees prompted the increase, City Manager Tim Long said, adding that it's the first in several years. The year-round rate also will be more efficient and easier for residents to understand, Long said.
