Oregon woman killed in crash on Pines Road

A head-on crash on an icy road claimed the life of an Oregon woman Monday morning and critically injured a Chana woman. Ogle County Sheriff Greg Beitel said Eva Javorik, 79, died in the crash that occurred at 9:04 a.m. in the 4000 block of West Pines Road, west of Harmony Road. Marvella R. Kober, 60, of Chana, was injured in the crash and was airlifted by REACT helicopter to Rockford Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon. Javorik's small white dog was with her in the car and also died in the crash. Beitel said the road was very slippery. "It appears the road condition was the contributing factor," Beitel said.
