Medical Center receives 'Best Place to Work' award STERLING - A survey in Modern Healthcare magazine has named CGH Medical Center one of the best places to work. The city-owned hospital participated in the trade publication's voluntary survey of 238 providers, suppliers and insurers, as part of the magazine's first attempt to recognize health care employers with high job satisfaction. CGH ranked ninth in the nation among health care providers, such as hospitals and clinics, and 13th among the overall "100 best places to work in health care," as rated by Modern Healthcare. "We are all very proud and honored to have received this recognition," CEO Ed Andersen said. "The award recognizes CGH as a work place that promotes employee satisfaction, innovation and performance that, in turn, allows us to provide the best possible care to our patients and the community." Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group, a firm that conducts "best places to work" programs nationwide, according to an article published Oct. 27. Two surveys were administered in 2008: a nine-page questionnaire for hospital administration and an employee satisfaction survey that evaluated leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall satisfaction. "CGH Medical Center's biggest impact is on the individuals and communities it serves," Quint Studer, CEO of health care consultants Studer Group, said in a CGH news release. "They invest in employee development, helping to maximize each person's human potential. The employees and physicians feel a strong sense of purpose in their work, knowing that what they do makes a difference in people's lives." Anderson said CGH plans to participate if the survey is offered again next year. "We want to move up."
