Ian HubbardBY SVN NEWS SERVICESTERLING - Ian Thomas Hubbard, 17, of Sterling, died suddenly, Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008. Ian was born Aug. 1, 1991, in Sterling, the son of John and Beth (Kuba) Hubbard, and was a junior at Sterling Township High School. Ian had a boundless enthusiasm for life. He was surrounded by a host of friends who were all very dear to him. Ian participated in Sterling sports from a young age, roller hockey, basketball, and football, with a special love of baseball. He was a member of the SHS Band and Drumline. These pursuits brought to his life close friendships and he will be missed greatly by his friends and family. Surviving are his parents, John and Beth Hubbard; his sisters, Sarah and Hannah Hubbard; his maternal grandparents, Bob and Jeanne Kuba of Sterling; his paternal grandfather, A. Dean Hubbard of Sterling; his uncles and aunts, Michael Kuba (Molly Elder) of Dixon, Scott (Kelly) Hubbard of Grand Rapids, Mich., Jane (Ron) Pease of Sterling, and Deana (Glenn) McConnell of Elgin; and his cousins, Andy, Susan, John, and Mary Hubbard, David and Eric Pease, and Katie McConnell. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Norma Hubbard. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. Memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling, with the Rev. Mark Oehlert officiating. Private family burial will take place.
