Philippines, Oregon finally pick up LLWS victories

A bases-loaded walk with two outs in the fifth pushed across the winning run as Bacolod, Philippines picked up its lone LLWS win Monday with a 5-4 decision against Milan, Italy. Raniel Andrade went 3-for-4 and drove in the game-tying run in the fifth, then Nancy Benjamen walked in Edna Severino with the go-ahead run for the Philippines. Benjamen then went to the circle and forced Italy to strand the tying run on third to end the makeup game from Thursday, sending Italy to 0-4. Simpsonville, S.C. 10, Bacolod, Philippines 2: Dee Dee Sullivan and Erin Errington each drove in a pair of runs and three Simpsonville pitchers combined for eight strikeouts in a three-hitter to win Pool B and advance to the semifinals. Carley Hoover, Carson O'Donald and Nikki Fulmer also drove in runs for Simpsonville, and Sullivan and Emma Swearingen each scored twice. Sarah Stewart picked up the win, striking out six while allowing one run and one hit in four innings. Beaverton, Ore. 11, Windsor, Ontario 1: Rachel Thompson and Courtney Coombs combined for a no-hitter and Thompson added two RBIs to lead the host team to its lone LLWS victory. Katie Newton had three hits and scored three times for Oregon, and Kiana Wood added two hits and three RBIs. Maunabo, Puerto Rico 5, Waco, Texas 4: Karelis Pinto doubled home Yahelis Munoz with two outs in the top of the sixth to send Puerto Rico into the semifinals from Pool A. Jerika Figueroa drove in two runs and Munoz had two hits and scored two more runs. Jocelyn De Leon picked up the win in the circle. Sarah Beth Toben hit a three-run homer and also struck out eight in six innings in the circle for Texas, but it wasn't enough.
