STERLING - A Sterling man wanted for questioning in a homicide and slated for arrest in an alleged home invasion led police on a chase in a stolen Lincoln before eluding them late Thursday. Nicholas T. Sheley, 28, a longtime local criminal who 2 years ago was involved in the murder of a Rock Falls man, is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, Whiteside County Sheriff's Department said in a press release. Russell R. Reed, 93, of 16664 Blue Goose Road, was found Thursday in the trunk of his 2003 Buick Century. Both Reed and his car had been missing for several days.
