Favorite teachers mold young minds

They opened us up to new worlds through reading and unraveled the mysteries of mathematics. They nursed our wounds on the playground. They helped us become the people we are today. Everyone can remember a teacher who made an impression, one we consider our favorite. The Gazette recently asked local children in elementary, middle and high school to tell us about their favorite teachers. Their responses were sweet, funny and ultimately inspiring. The newspaper chose three essays, one from each age group, for special recognition. The winners each received a $100 savings bond from Sauk Valley Bank, and their favorite teachers each received a $50 Bergner's gift card.
