McCain bashes Obama for stance on gas tax

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Sen. John McCain ridiculed Sen. Barack Obama Wednesday for failing to endorse proposals put forward by himself and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to suspend the federal gasoline tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day. "There are some experts who view it as the end of Western civilization as we know it," he said of the plan's critics, who include the Democratic candidate.
