John Cunningham Jr.

POLO — John T. Cunningham Jr., 94, of Polo, died Friday, March 21, 2008, at KSB Hospital. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Cunningham was born Dec. 17, 1913, in South Waterloo, Iowa, the son of John and Gertrude (Stoner) Cunningham Sr. He married Annabel Stauffer on Oct. 6, 1933, in Polo. He was a member of Polo Church of the Brethren.

Survivors include his wife; son, Dean (Nancy) Cunninghan, of Roseville, Calif.; daughters, Carolyn (Ken) Hillsten, of Orange, Texas, and Sylvia (Tom) Howell, of West Lafayette, Ind.; brother, Robert (Phyllis) Cunningham, of Mount Morris; sisters, Pauline Jecklin, of Polo, Ruth Maxey, of Fort Collins, Colo., Doris Slankard, of Tucson, Ariz., and Lora Lien, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Willis Cunningham; sister, Marion Clark; and a granddaughter.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Polo Church of the Brethren. Burial is at Fairmount Cemetery, Polo. Visitation is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements were completed by Polo Family Funeral Home.
