Know Your Neighbor: Nolan Anderson, Student

Nolan, a senior at Sterling High School, is the son of Rod and Nancy Anderson. He is the school's November student of the month. My clubs are: Key Club, National Honor Society, Science Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and BLIND. My sports: Football, basketball and track. My job: I work in the Sterling Steel warehouse during the summer. My hobbies: Hunting, fishing and bowling. I hope to attend: The University of Illinois at Chicago. I want to major in: Computer science. My favorite subject: Math. My favorite teacher: Mike Gottemoller for precalculus and calculus. The most memorable moment of my school career: Being chosen for the National Honor Society. My philosophy of life: Listen. What is the key to surviving high school: Study hard now. It will pay off in the future. My favorite food: Steak. My favorite musical group: Styx. My favorite actor: Vince Vaughn. My favorite movie: "300." My favorite TV show: "Mythbusters." My favorite book: "Into the Wild," by Jon Krakauer. My favorite board game: Monopoly. My biggest fear: Heights. Other than my stated major, if I could try any profession, it would be: Spelunking, which is exploring caves. One person I'd like to meet: Spartan King Leonidas, who led the battle of the 300. I am: Silly, honest, hairy and dorky. My pet peeve is: When people hang up on me. Something people don't know about me: I like to make pumpkin and banana cream pies. If I could have any superpower, I would: Have super-fast flying abilities. If I could be any person for a day, I would be: Timmy Gaumer, Sterling High School senior. He's one of my best friends, and he's a good kid. If I could visit any place in the world, it would be: Europe. One thing I learned in the last year: Colby Jack cheese tastes ridiculously good. The movie that best defines my existence: Swiss Family Robinson. Who should play me in the movie about my life: Sean Connery.
