Sterling couple caught with two pounds of pot, police say

BY TARA BECKER SVN REPORTER tbecker@svnmail.com STERLING - A couple surrendered to police Thursday after drug task for agents found almost two pounds of marijuana in their home. William J. and Tani M. Moseley, 29 and 23, 1718 North St., are charged with unlawful possession with intent to deliver, a Class 1 felony. If convicted, both face four to 15 years in prison. They are in Whiteside County Jail on $100,000 bond each. Acting on a tip, the Blackhawk Area Task Force searched the home Aug. 2. According to agents, William Moseley directed them to a safe that contained marijuana, a scale and plastic bags. More marijuana was found in a bedroom, a desk drawer and a black trash bag, and police also found more drug paraphernalia and $1,300 in cash, the agents said. Moseley later admitted to investigators that he had been dealing for a year, and was buying a pound of marijuana a week, said Master Sgt. John Biffany of the Blackhawk Area Task Force. After several weeks of questioning, the Moseleys turned themselves in. Reach Tara Becker at (815) 625-3600 or (800) 798-4085, ext. 570.
