SVN SPORTS STAFF Sean Gillette and Martin Briseno each drove in a pair of runs as Sterling gained a 9-8 road victory over East Moline United Township on Monday. Golden Warriors pitchers Jake Hermes, Nic Holldorf and Justin Cutter allowed only five hits, but combined to walk 11 Panthers. Rock Island 10, Dixon 3: The Rocks scored six times in the bottom of the third to take control against the visiting Dukes. Only two of the 10 runs allowed by Dixon pitchers Matt Wohrley, Ryan Harrington and Ryan Apple were earned as the Dukes committed eight errors. Anthony Dillabough, Greg Burke and Ed Deets each had RBIs for Dixon (6-9). Morrison 5, Erie-Prophetstown 3: The Panthers took a lead at Morrison, but the Mustangs came back and improved to 7-0 in the TRAC-8. Morrison scored twice in the fifth inning and once in the sixth to turn around a 3-2 deficit. Eric DeBoer threw six innings, allowing three runs and striking out four for the Mustangs. Ethan Smit pitched a scoreless seventh for his fourth save. Tyler VanZuiden collected two hits and two RBIs for Morrison. Jesse Frohling hit two doubles and drove in two runs for the Panthers. Nick Zigler also had three hits for Erie-Prophetstown. Milledgeville-Polo 6, Forreston 5 (8 innings): The Missiles scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch to grab a victory against Forreston in Clinton, Iowa. Kirk Engelkens pitched all eight innings for the Milledgeville-Polo, striking out eight but allowing six runs, 10 hits and five walks. Lucas Bender had three hits for the Missiles, and Matt Shank and Lucas Bender added two hits each. Riverdale 12, Amboy 1: Riverdale used a six-run fourth to put the game out of reach and beat the Clippers in five innings. Dan Schrock had a single, a double and an RBI for Amboy. Spencer Morrissey threw two innings of relief, allowing one hit and one walk. West Carroll 2, AFC 1 (10 innings): Scott Hubble's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Thunder past the Raiders. Zach Brehm was the winning pitcher with two shutout innings of relief. Matthew Smith worked 9 2/3 innings for AFC (4-10, 4-0 NUIS). Tony Siebel homered for the Raiders' lone run. LaSalle-Peru 6, Rochelle 1: The Hubs scored first, only to have the visiting Cavaliers come back with six unanswered runs in a battle of former NCIC rivals. Jon Dicus took the loss for Rochelle (5-7). In six innings of work, he allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits and four walks. He struck out 11.
