DIXON – Rita M. Jones, age 88, of Dixon, died Monday, December 23, 2019, while in Las Vegas, NV.

She was born May 3, 1931, in West Brooklyn, IL, the daughter of William and Matilda (Walter) Untz. Rita retired from KSB Hospital after 33 years as medical records director, then retired from the Illinois Dept. of Corrections after 12 years as medical records director. Rita was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, the American Medical Records Assoc., and was a member and past President of the Illinois Medical Records Association. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafts, going to the casino, traveling, attending sports activities for her grandchildren, and most of all spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Thomas P. Jones; 2 brothers, Edward Walter and Donald Untz; 3 sisters, Eleanor Carter, Ruthie Larson, and Mary Catherine Crawford.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Janet (Edward) Bushman of Dixon, Joyce (Joseph) Hilton of Poinciana, FL, Patricia Teller (Don Rice) of Dixon, Timothy Jones of Orlando, FL, Laura Boysen (Lito Foronda) of Las Vegas, NV, and Susan (Michael) Garcia of Dixon; 2 stepsons, Glenn (Jill) Jones of Van Orin and Danny Jones of Success, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Loraine Untz of Oregon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon with Msgr. Daniel Hermes officiating. Burial of cremains will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be Saturday, January 18, 2020, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
