Growing up in Sterling as a young man, we had more gravel streets than paved streets. I can truthfully say they were much smoother than the paved streets we have today.
Many of the paved streets we drive down today are rougher than driving through a cow pasture. What has happened to common sense? We have money to make downtown Sterling beautiful and money for other things, but no money for our streets.
I live near East LeFevre Road and hear the ambulances go by, taking someone from the Senior Towers to the hospital. They have to go over a rough section of East LeFevre Road to get to the hospital. Where are the city’s priorities? Our city manager lives on a smooth street and doesn’t make sure the city budget covers our streets. Maybe if we reduced the pay of the people responsible for our budget, we might get our streets fixed.
