STERLING – Fernando “Fred” Garza, 65, of Sterling, died Saturday, November 9, 2019, at his home.
He was born on November 20, 1953, in Sterling, the son of Glafiro and Soledad (Pèna) Garza Sr. He married the former Marie Henning on June 14, 1996. He had worked in the heating and cooling profession and had operated his own business Fred’s Heating and Cooling. In the past he liked working with stained glass.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; his son, Christopher (Janette) Garza of Sterling; his stepsons, Shane Lawson of Watertown, WI and Jamie Sathoff of Rock Falls; his grandchildren, Olivia, Hailyn, Elizabeth and Mason; his sisters, Susan (Clifford) Ortiz and Selma (Pete) Estrada both of Sterling; his brothers, Glafiro (Mary) Garza Jr. and Rojelio (Crystal) Garza both of Sterling and David Garza of Conroe, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Derik Garza; his granddaughter, Jade Garza; his sister, Sandra and his brother, Raul.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.
