Four arrested in Dixon on coke-dealing charges

Two men, two women, all from Sterling or Rock Falls

DIXON – Four people from Sterling and Rock Falls accused of selling cocaine in the 1000 block of Highland Avenue in Dixon were rounded up and arrested Wednesday, Dixon police said in a news release late this morning.

Vanessa M. Echartea 43, and Lonnie L. McGee, 65, both of Sterling, and Roaul L. Anderson 42, and Toniette S. Freeman 41, both of Rock Falls, are charged with possession of more than 1 but less than 15 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver within 500 feet of a park or school, punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison; possession with intent to sell more than 1 but less than 15 grams, punishable by 4 to 15 years; and possession of less than 15 grams, which carries 1 to 3 years.

Echartea also is charged in another Lee County case, from an investigation that started in August. In that case, she is charged with two counts of dealing cocaine within 500 feet of a church, also more than 1 but less than 15 grams; two counts of selling cocaine; and two counts of possession of cocaine, the release said.

On Sept. 6, 2013, she was sentenced in Whiteside County to 4 years' probation for dealing cocaine and to 2 and a half years for dealing marijuana.

McGee also has Whiteside County drug convictions in his past. He was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in October 2007 and was sentenced to 2 and a half years of condition discharge. That sentences was revoked 10 months later, and he was given a year in prison, when he was again arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was convicted of the misdemeanor.

He also was sentenced to 3 years for burglary in October 2010.

Anderson was sentenced in 1996 in Whiteside County to 3 years in prison for aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Echartea and Anderson's bond was set at $150,000, McGee's at $75,000 and Freeman's at $45,000. Echartea's next court date is Thursday; the other three have Nov. 20 court hearings.
