Oregon soccer cruises to regional victory

Josh Sitze scored three goals to lead the Oregon boys soccer team to a 5-0 win against Johnsburg on Tuesday in a Class 1A Johnsburg Regional semifinal.

The Hawks (15-8) will play either Stillman Valley or Woodstock Marian in the title game on Saturday.

Alvaro Soler had two assists and one goal, Keshon Reed had one goal, and Grant Cermak and Arnau Fastenrath each had assists for Oregon. Owen Ketter had nine saves in goal.

United Township 6, Sterling 0: The Golden Warriors went on the road and were blanked by the Panthers.

Volleyball

Rock Falls def. Geneseo 25-23, 23-25, 25-12: The Rockets lost a set for just the second time all season, but bounced back to beat the Maple Leafs at Tabor Gym.

Maya Sands had 13 kills and 14 digs, and Mallory Pinske added 12 kills and four blocks for Rock Falls (28-0). Elise Moeller had 10 kills and six digs, Kennedy Shaw finished with 16 assists, seven digs and six kills, and Audra Goff dished 23 assists. Maddie Sands led the way with 15 digs, and Haylee Herrera served for seven points and an ace off the bench.

Dixon def. North Boone 25-9, 25-7: The Duchesses bounced back nicely from a home loss to Rock Falls, routing Big Northern foe North Boone 25-9, 25-7 at Lancaster Gym.

Brenna Melvin had eight kills, and Emma Carlson added five kills and three aces for Dixon (14-17, 5-3 BNC). Kaitlynn Pfeiffer dished 10 assists, and Kayla Callison finished with seven digs and an ace.

Fulton def. Morrison 25-8, 25-15: Emily Schipper put down 13 kills as the Steamers went on the road and handled the Fillies.

Also for Fulton, Kylie Collachia had 24 assists, Ally Curley had seven digs, and Lily Eagle added three blocks.

Morrison's Grace Steines and Britney Sage each had three kills.

Bureau Valley def. Kewanee 25-23, 25-19: Lauren Wirth dished 13 assists to lead the Storm past the Boilermakers in Manlius.

Also for Bureau Valley (18-11), Carly Konneck, Sam Bohm and Kamryn Kolb each put down four kills. Tatum Primo (3) and Morgan Ringle (2) combined for five aces.

Erie-Prophetstown def. Hall 25-14, 21-25, 25-17: Emily Brooks put down 16 kills, Ady Scott spiked 10 more, and Ella Heyvaert added six to lead the Panthers to a home win agaisnt the Red Devils.

Brooks also had four aces and 11 digs, and Heyvaert added 11 digs. Baylee Anderson dished 30 assists, and Jasmine Nickerson finished with 13 digs.

Galena def. Eastland 25-21, 25-15: Karlie Krogman had eight kills for the Cougars in a road loss to the Pirates.

Also for Eastland, Addison Burkholder had 10 digs, and Erin Henze had 18 assists.

Dakota def. Polo 25-16, 25-20: Nicole Boelens had six kills and 16 digs for the Marcos in a home loss to the Indians.

Polo also received three kills, 11 digs, and seven assists from Mallory Patterson; five kills and six digs from Becca Wagner; and two kills, seven digs and five assists from Alex Dusing.

Girls tennis

Kaneland 4, Newman 1: Sydney Schott and Madelyn Ryan won at No. 1 doubles for the Comets' lone point against the Knights at Sauk Valley Community College.

Girls golf

Warrior duo fails to advance: Sterling's Averi Heintzelman carded a 94, while Olivia Schwingle added a 118 on Monday at the Class 2A O'Fallon Regional held at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville.

A score of 85 was needed to advance to the state tournament, which begins Friday at Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur.
