Oregon Autumn on Parade

OREGON – Autumn on Parade runs Saturday and Sunday, with its famed farmer's market and craft fair with more than 175 booths, open both days.

On Saturday, there will be a free kids fun carnival in the Coliseum and an antique tractor and classic car show at Oregon Park East, where the historic Chana School will be open for tours.

Also Saturday, the Eagle’s Nest Art Exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. on the second floor of Conover Square Mall, 201 N. Third St.

Sunday starts with a 5K race and a 1-mile fun run, followed by the Harvest Time Parade at 1 p.m. Entertainers, live music and a food court will be available both days as well.

Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center's annual Olde English Faire also is open both days, with tours of Stronghold Castle, all about 2 miles north of Oregon on state Route 2.

Punkins go dashing

STERLING – The annual Pumpkin Dash returns Saturday to Hoover Park, 3807 Woodlawn Road.

Kids 12 and younger will be grouped by age. Winners will get a large pumpkin, and the first 1,000 finishers will get a small pumpkin, a bag of candy, a hot dog, bottled water and chips.

There also will be a petting zoo, bounce houses, hayrack rides, ambulance tours, face painting, barrel rides and concessions.

Registration begins at 9 and the first race at 11 a.m. Dashers must sign up at least 15 minutes before their race, which is 11 a.m. for those 2 and younger; 11:15 a.m. for age 3; 11:30 a.m., for 4- and 5-year-olds; noon for 6- and 7-year-olds; 12:30 p.m., for 8- and 9-year-olds; and 1 p.m. for 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds.

Admission is free; a $1 per-person donation is suggested.

Timber Lake Terror

MOUNT CARROLL –Timber Lake Terror, The Haunted Experience at Timber Lake, features a fun house, a haunted house, and an escape room, from 6:30 to 10 p.m Saturdays through October at 8215 Black Oak Road

Lioness' fall auction

DIXON – The Dixon Lioness Club's annual fall auction begins Saturday with a buffet from 4 to 6:45 p.m., followed by the auction at 7 p.m., at Loveland Community House, 513 W. Second St.

Chili cook-off in Sterling

STERLING – United Way of Whiteside County Chili Cook-off begins Saturday with the cooking at 7 a.m. set-up, with tasting at 1:30 p.m. rain or shine, in the parking lot at the corner of East Fourth Street and First Avenue downtown.

There also will be a 50-50 drawing and kids activities.

Admission is $5 for anyone 6 an older.
