DIXON – On September 20, 2019, Richard R. Fotzler of Dixon, passed away peacefully due to an illness.

He was born April 15, 1938, in Prophetstown, to parents Frank and Liz Fotzler. He worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire for 36 years. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. Richard was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed entering his Harley into motorcycle shows. Most of his friends called him “Goofy” for his oddball personality.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Fotzler of Dixon; three children, Rory (Paula) Fotzler of Lancaster, WI, Brian (Jay) Fotzler of Milan, and Julie (Mitch) Morse of Prophetstown; two step-sons, Jeff Meusel and Martin (Susan) Muesel; three grandchildren, Anna Reynolds, Addison Morse, and Charlie Lynn Morse; two nieces, Renee Landphere and Rita Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Liz Fotzler; twin sister, Joanne Lawrence; Step-son, Curt Meusel.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Condolences may be sent to Nancy at 553 Meadow Lane, Dixon.

Finch Funeral Home in Mount Morris is handling the arrangements.

No funeral.

No Visitation.
