DIXON – A worker in the accounting department at the Jack Mabley Development Center is facing two felony charges, accused of stealing $800 from a center client.

According to Lee County Court records, Kimberly Zera, 56, was charged Sept. 3 with theft and official misconduct for obtaining “unauthorized control” over the money “in her official capacity as account technician.” Each charge is punishable by 2 to 5 years in prison.

Her initial hearing was Thursday; she is free on a $10,000 recognizance bond and has a preliminary hearing Sept. 25.

Details of how the theft may have been committed are not provided in the court record.
