OREGON – After an 8-month search, the Ogle County Board has hired a Stephenson County official as supervisor of assessments.
Ronald A. Kane, 61, of Freeport, will replace Jim Harrison, who retired Dec. 31 after 31 years in the position.
Kane, who grew up on a farm in the Forreston area, also was supervisor of assessments in JoDaviess and Carroll counties. He was assessment data collector in Monroe, Wisconsin, and a deputy assessor in Rockford Township in Winnebago County and for the Harris County Appraisal District in Houston.
He also was Stephenson County’s geographical information system coordinator and Enterprise Zone administrator.
“I think he will do a great job for us,” board Chairman Kim Gouker said.
Kane will begin his new job on Oct. 1.
He will be paid $81,977 a year.
