STERLING – United Way of Whiteside County is maintaining its $775,000 annual goal, but hopes are high that one again, that goal will be surpassed.
The annual fall campaign kickoff, where the agency will “announce our goal and share our message of hope,” will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 5 at Wahl Clipper, 2900 Locust St., CEO Diana Verhulst said.
This year’s theme is “Together We Are Fearless.”
The agency soared $45,000 past its 2018 fundraising goal. The money raised help pay for 32 programs at 27 agencies, impacting 55,658 people, she said.
Organizations served include Boy and Girl Scouts, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sauk Valley, the Whiteside County Senior Center, Head Start, the Red Cross, The YMCA, the YWCA, school counseling services, and meal programs, to name a few.
Verhulst’s goal is to hit $1 million, sooner rather than later. “By 2022, it’s possible,” she said.
“Anything is possible, because we are fearless.”
