AMBOY – James E. “Jim” Delhotal, age 66 of Amboy went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He was born Oct. 16, 1952 in Princeton, the son of Earl and Ala Marie (Fisher) Delhotal. Jim worked at the Byron Nuclear Generating Station from 1976 until his retirement in 2018.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amboy Jim married the love of his life, Janelle Cardot on Dec. 1, 1973 in Dixon. They recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Jim is survived by his wife Janelle; children Chad (LeeAnne) Delhotal of Vista, CA, Jarod (Trista) Delhotal of Marion, IA, Nicholas (Diane) Cardot and Leah (Mark) DeSutter both of Amboy; 9 grandchildren, Abigail, Nehemiah, Elijah, Azariah “AC” Delhotal, Isabella and Naomi Delhotal, Emma Leigh and Clara Cardot, and Gideon DeSutter; his father Earl of Sterling; brothers Alan (Angie) Delhotal of Dixon and George (Silene) Walters of Rochelle; sisters Dawn Taylor of Sterling and Sharie (Paul) Bowman of Seattle, WA.

Jim was known in the community for his kind spirit and diligent work ethic.

On October 6, 1996 Jim came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and the focus of his life began to change. He spent the rest of his life seeking to bring others to Christ by witnessing for His Lord and distributing helpful Bible-centered materials. Baptized in 1997 into the membership of First Baptist Church, Jim became very active in its life and ministries. Soon he was helping remodel the auditorium and eventually became involved in the bus ministry. As he grew in his faith, he was selected to serve as deacon and treasurer for the church.  He was a well loved part of the congregation and will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday Aug. 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Amboy with Pastor Rocky Fritz officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Repose Cemetery Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials towards the Bus and Missions ministries at the First Baptist Church in Amboy.
