ELGIN – Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois needs votes from the public to win a $25,000 grant from State Farm to help teach girls ages 10 to 15 on human trafficking and how to have healthy intimate relationships
U.S. residents 18 and older with a valid email address can go to neighborhoodassist.com/entry/2023519 and vote for Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, up to 10 times a day. Voting is open until 10:59 p.m. Friday.
Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois serves part or all of 16 counties, including Carroll, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside.
The top 40 vote-receiving causes will be announced on Sept. 26 at neighborhoodassist.com, and each affiliated nonprofit will receive a $25,000 grant.
If Scouting receives the grant, funds also would help provide financial assistance for every girl in the program to become a Girl Scout; an expert consultant; a portion of salaries for 15 part-time facilitators to lead troops at 24 sites; and supplies and materials for expansion of human trafficking programming at the middle school level.
