Tractor pull competitors showcase their machines
Thick plumes of black smoke rose into the air over the Ogle County Fair grandstands Thursday night. The annual tractor pull pitted drivers and their machines against the mighty pull of the "Mechanical Mule" and the forces it applied to the dirt track. In the competition the goal is to pull the sled more than 300 feet for a full pull. As the trucks and tractors head down the track the weight on the sled moves closer to the front axle which digs the sled into the ground. The event is put on by the Illini State Pullers. The Ogle County Fair continues through Sunday. Grandstand events include the Big Hat Rodeo tonight at 7 and the demolition derby Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Go to oglecountyfair.com for a complete fair schedule.
