POLO – Irvin E. Scholl, 86, of Polo, died Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Pinecrest Manor, Mount Morris.

Irvin was born February 22, 1933, in Dixon, the son of Clark and Ethel G. (Palmer) Scholl. Irv graduated in 1951 from Polo Community High School and attended Iowa State University. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, from 1953 to 1955. He married LaVerne Yingling on November 9, 1958, in Polo.

Irv was a fourth generation farmer on the same family farm. He enjoyed gardening, and was well known for his melons, passed down from his great-grandfather. He was past president of PLN Mutual Co., member of Farm Bureau, Beef Association, and a past board member of Dixon Co-Op and Palmyra Cemetery Board. A favorite interest was working on Habitat for Humanity projects through his church. He was a lifelong member of East Jordan United Methodist Church, Sterling.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne of Polo; two sons, Brent (Kathy) Scholl of Polo and Bruce (Julie) Scholl of Polo; four grandchildren, Samantha Scholl of Sterling, Garrett (Cate Sargent) of East Moline, Matt Scholl of Polo and Scott (Brooke) Scholl of Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Gladys Bain, Phyllis Chana and Irene Reynolds; and one brother, Maurice Scholl.

Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2019, at East Jordan Church, with Pastor Jim Miller, officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to memorial service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at a later date.

A memorial has been established to East Jordan Church and East Jordan Habitat for Humanity.
