STERLING – A Sterling woman faces arson charges after being arrested Wednesday in connection with an April 1 structure fire.
Sterling police said Kelly L. Mewhirter, 42, was arrested on charges of residential arson, arson, criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.
The charges stem from a fire that was reported to Sterling firefighters at 5;13 a.m. April 1. No one was injured in the fire.
Mewhirter was taken to Whiteside County Jail, where she was awaiting booking.
She also was sentenced May 22 in Whiteside County Court to 24 months probation for violating an order of protection.
