ROCK FALLS – Mary A. Hanson, 86, of Rock Falls, IL, formerly of Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, June 17, 2019 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

There will be a private family graveside committal service. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL. Interment is at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Foster Grandparent Program through the Tri-County Opportunities Council, Rock Falls, IL.

Mary was born March 21, 1933 in Raymond, IL. She was educated in the rural Henry County grade schools and was a 1951 graduate of Annawan High School in Annawan, IL. On October 21, 1951 she married Raymond O. Hanson in Raymond, IL. He died September 23, 1984. Mary was employed as a certified nurse’s assistant for the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown, retiring in 1996. She also worked at Exceptional Care in Sterling, IL; she was active in the Foster Grandparent Program. She was a member of the former Church of Christ in Prophetstown, and also the Prophetstown American Legion Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed working with young people in the Foster Grandparent Program.

Survivors include two sons, Lee (Linda) Hanson of Cedar Rapids, IA and Roy (Leanne Hodgson) of Rock Falls; three grandchildren, Matthew (Angela) Hanson, Amanda (Jacob) Anesi, and Kyler Hanson; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; one sister, Dorothy Williams; and one brother in infancy.
