Jacks and Jills celebrate passion for history
Festival held at Sawmill Museum
Jacks and Jills did not go up a hill to get a bucket of water Saturday, but they did roll on in to Clinton, Iowa Saturday for the Lumberjack Festival. The men and women put on demonstrations of log rolling, chainsaw carving, sawing and other wooden trades. Visitors to the festival even had the chance to take their shoes off and try to avoid getting wet while rolling a log in a pool of water.Spoiler alert - most people fell in and got soaked and some spectators that were a little too close also got wet. The event was presented by the Sawmill Museum which celebrates Clinton’s lumber history. The museum works to preserve the history of sawmills, lumber and forest industries with stories focused in Clinton and the surrounding areas. The Sawmill Museum is located at 2231 Grant Street. Visit thesawmillmuseum.org for daily hours, admission prices and information about the museum.
